Recently Sweden had the honor of hosting Eurovision Song Contest 2016 after Måns Zelmerlöw won the contest in 2015 in Vienna. For those who doesn’t know about this event, it’s largest song contest in the world. Every year an estimated amount of some 180 million viewers watch the Eurovision Song Contest. This year 204 million people was watching.
The theme this year was ”Come together” and in our case it was also true as we got to be part of this huge event together with Dohrns Exhibition & Events they came to us and all in all we were producing more than 1400 square meter of signage for the song contest. Maxibit Stage was selected for many of the backdrops due to design, modularity and re-usability.

Beloved by Europeans and Australians, although mystifying to others such as the US. The contest was conceived as a way to unite Cold War Europe through music, although Australia was participating for the second time this year. The US was represented by Justin Timberlake as he performed as the interval act. For the first time ever it was also broadcasted in China and in the United States, the Eurovision-friendly nation Australia has been broadcasted Eurovision Song Contest every year since 1983.
Who knows how big it could get.

In 1974 the Swedish band ABBA had their breakthrough in the Eurovision Contest even though the UK gave them zero points. Sweden has won the contest 6 times only beaten by Ireland who has won 7 times. There is one song from the contest that stands out as it’s been covered by famous stars such as David Bowie, Cliff Richard and Dean Martin it’s Volare with the original name Nel Blu Di Pinto Di Blu.
What makes people love ESC so much is probably that it’s a grand gala and freak show all in one, lasting for over a week. We are very proud of being part of it so thank you Dohrns for this year’s cooperation during this event. Also thanks “Sveriges television” and “Stockholm Stad” who trusted us with this task through Dohrns.
The winner this year was Ukraine so we hope Maxibit will take part again next year through our official reseller Exposhow.
